Honeysuckle climbed up one wall like a lattice, winding all the way up and over the thick shingles. Late summer roses bloomed in a handkerchief sized garden under the dark deep set windows. There was a little path of flat stones, amethyst in the night, that led up to the quaint arched wooden floor.
It was a difficult andtreacherous hike.The ash concealed grooves in the rock canvasses that vented warm air from the volcano.Colourful fungi grew in clusters around these vents, and they glowed in the crater shadows like coral night lights.
The great cannons glistened over the precipice of the small cliff, water rushing down the turbulent bottom. The cannons were facing the colossal walls of granite and obsidian on the other side, magnificent and imposing upon the village that stood within them, attempting any way to get free from the prison of solid and liquid that confined them.
